Youth Tour 2020 Cancelled

Buckeye Rural is proud to participate in the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s (NRECA) Youth Tour program. Traditionally, our high school delegates join 1,500 students from electric cooperatives across the county on an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. During the tour, teens from rural America get to visit some of the finest museums, meet with their elected officials and explore Capitol Hill. The students who are chosen have the opportunity to learn about our capital, develop leadership skills and gain a better understanding of electric cooperatives.

Unfortunately, the 2020 Youth Tour trip had to be canceled due to COVID-19. We are incredibly proud of the students selected this year and would like to recognize their accomplishments. The first recipient is Ashley Beasy, of Gallia Academy High School, the daughter of Jenny Tibbs. Meredith Humphrey of Ironton High School, the daughter of Darrell and Sarah Humphreys, was the other recipient. Both were identified as outstanding leaders in their communities.
